What travellers say about the experience

I’ve spent 3 incredible days in Delta Ebro exploring its natural and cultural values. Led by an eloquent and dedicated local guide we encountered the stunning lagoon’s biodiversity, saw thousands of birds, but also witnessed the balanced interaction of humans and nature. Among the rich itinerary, many places seen and activities done, there is one which I like the most, and will remember for a long time. It was the performance of “Rondalla de Jota” traditional & folkloric music of Terres de l’Ebre, where we actively participated! Great nature,
great people but... it should last longer!

I was overwhelmed, as I had not expected the sheer numbers and variety of birds in such an endless and ever-changing landscape. While cruising down the Ebro River as the sun set and having the constant skeins of glossy ibis and cormorants overhead in the orange and azure sky, was an experience that lightened my soul and made me wish I could share it with a loved one.

Meals in restaurants were outstanding. We had some of the best food we’ve had in Europe on this trip. We had to ask the first local restaurant owner for a little presentation of himself, and he did an outstanding job, both with the presentation and the food. The meal at the boat and donkey tour facility was also exceptional, as was the experience on the mussel farm. Paella cookout was equally good. This is a huge strength of the area.

sustainability

  • This itinerary has an ecological footprint of around 0.020 gha per tourist per day. Some of the contributions to the sustainability of the package are the availability of bikes during the tour and the avoidance of plastic in restaurants and activities.

  • Did you know that there are rice fields in Spain? Look no further! You will meet some environmental volunteers that participate in ecological rice production.

  • A walking tour allows visitors to watch the birds that live along the river shore and the Garxal Lagoon. To see birds from a different angle, travellers will also kayak alongside the flamingoes in Alfacs bay.
